Walking Tours

Ronnie’s In-Person Guided Tours are back for the 2023 season! There are currently 4 tours available in Oldtown, Wicker Park, River North and Chicago Loop’s Financial District.

Ronnie is an architectural photographer and interior designer. Having studied architecture and historical homes/buildings for over 30 years he is passionate about historical preservation and that passion shows in his tours.

Informative and entertaining your of Wicker Park If you are interested in the history of Chicago and it's architecture I highly recommend taking a Tour with Doorways of Chicago. Ronnie is knowledgeable, friendly and loves to share. I loved learning new facts about places I have walked by for years. Such a delightful way to spend an afternoon.

Learned so much about my neighborhood! This was a great tour full of charm and facts I had no idea about. Most of the workers cottages are ones I wouldn’t have noticed or appreciated before. It makes my walks around the neighborhood so much more interesting!

Retro love! Omg! What a fun way to explore the lovely history of River North. I live so close by Ronnie opens my eyes to the beauty of the neighborhood. His energy is electric! Great tour for locals and tourists alike! I only just discovered these tours after living in the neighborhood for 10 years. While I've admired a lot of these buildings myself before, Ronnie has great information that you'd never know by just looking at the outside. The tour was super informative plus he has a lot of neat anecdotes from doing this for years. We had a great time walking around our own neighborhood and learning new things about the buildings around us. We will definitely be taking his tours in other neighborhoods this fall.

Workers cottages of Old Town - time traveling on a Saturday afternoon. This is very special part of Chicago, and you feel transported in time. Ronnie is very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about architecture and history. I learned new information about the original owners of some of these beautiful homes. The pictures turned out great and I left feeling inspired by this great neighborhood.

Art Deco tour with Ronnie This tour with Ronnie was a highlight of my trip. He is so knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the sites and elements of Art Deco style. You’ll walk away with gorgeous pictures and a renewed excitement about Art Deco on every level. I especially enjoyed the balance of interior and exterior elements in the tour.
